3 CZK for wildlife
Since 1 January 2016, you have been supporting conservation projects, that the Ostrava Zoo is involved in, just by visiting the zoo! And since November 2021, 3 CZK instead of the former 1 CZK of each of your entrance ticket is used to support the conservation of endangered animal and plant species directly in the wild!
As the name of the program suggests, 2 CZK from every admission fee to the Ostrava Zoo is deposited at a special account dedicated exclusively to support projects aiming to save and protect endangered species of animals and plants in the wild. Considering the average annual attendance, this financial support is supposed to amount to around 1 million CZK a year. Thanks to this scheme, we are able to help conservation projects based in the natural area of threatened species (in situ), whether in the Czech Republic or in other areas elsewhere in the world. The purpose is primarily to support projects protecting or repatriating the species bred at the Ostrava Zoo, as well as projects working in areas and countries that the Ostrava Zoo has been cooperating with over the long-term. Nevertheless, our door is not closed to other conservation projects. Everything will unfold depending on the future priorities of international nature conservation and on an actual situation in different regions and countries.
In 2018, a total amount of 500,000 CZK from the Ostrava Zoo supported following conservation projects:
The Kukang Rescue Program – conservation of Greater slow loris, and combating illegal wildlife trade in Sumatra (Indonesia)
